Helping clients discover their creativity
Those in the program may have the opportunity to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the arts.
At the Alberta Men's Centre, clients have the opportunity to use their musical gifts to assist with worship in chapel, at graduations and recently had the opportunity to play during a Nicky Cruz rally.
Also, clients sometimes use their free time to try other arts/crafts. For example, recently some clients became interested in learning how to build—the body, fretwork and electrical parts—of electric guitars. Others in the program have been interested in learning carving and carved beautiful, intricate walking sticks. Another intern created sculptured picture frames out of scraps of wood. One client created a uniquely carved wooden trophy called the Teen Challenge Cup that is awarded to the top golf fundraisers.
